2018 Trans Am Series – Daytona – Season Finale
Daytona, FL November 2018 – Lawless Alan, driver of the AUTOParkit™ #28 car, had to battle more than the field at Daytona International Speedway but miraculously managed to finish in the top 10 at the last Trans Am race of the 2018 Season, sponsored by Pirelli and broadcast on CBS Sports.
Heading into the final laps of the race, Lawless was in fourth place and reaching for more when the car’s ECU failed. The disaster dropped him all the way back to 17th.
“He couldn’t get above 4500 RPMs on the banks and had to work all his magic on the flat part of the course to battle back and finish 10th”, said Mike Cope, owner of Mike Cope Racing. “The real irony was that shortly after Lawless fell out of fourth, the leader spun out into the infield. Had Lawless’s car not had the electronic issue he’d have been on the podium in only his third Trans Am start. That’s crazy. What a talent.”
Lawless is poised for the 2019 season which will be his first full season in Trans Am, setting his sights on a Trans Am Series Championship. In the meantime, he returns to the University of Alabama to battle the Fall semester’s final exams before returning to Los Angeles for a much-deserved Christmas break.
